Govt Asked to Implement Short, Long Term Covid-19 Solutions

Health Rights Campaigners have asked government to consider implementing long term and short term covid-19 solutions which include having laboratories in all regions.
At the moment, the country has 3 laboratories only with one in Lilongwe and 2 in Blantyre.
But speaking after a fourth Covid-19 case was confirmed in Blantyre, George Jobe executive director of Malawi Equity Health Network has advised authorities to consider fast tracking instalation of laboratories as a matter of urgency.
According to him, this would facilitate rapid testing of suspected cases and the general population.
Besides, Jobe has also proposed use of drones as one of the short term solutions in transporting specimen for laboratory testing.
Meanwhile, the Patients Welfare Association of Malawi has asked government to look into the welfare of health workers as the efforts to contain the spread of the Covid-19 escalate in the country.
PAWEM spokesperson Amade Alide said government should consider the welfare the workers because they seat at the heart of the hospitals most of which are still crowded.
” We are making the plea having observed time and again of the challenges patients face in public hospitals. We feel this is a critical time to address such problems” said Alide.
