ADMARC yet to start buying maize from farmers in the South

Information sourced by faceofmalawi indicates that the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) is yet to start buying maize from farmers as earlier promised.

Last week Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Francis Kasaila informed the nation that government has released funds for ADMARC to start purchasing maize in the South and the Minister set today as the day of commencement.

Kasaila further set minimum get price of Mk200 for 1kilogram maize and a 50kg bag was pegged at MK10,000.00.

But a visit to various ADMARC deports, faceofmalawi discovered the purchase of of maize and other commodities is yet to commence.

Effort to talk to ADMARC officials on the matter proved futile.
