HRDC Threatens to Take Govt to Court Over Lockdown

Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has threatened to take government to court if it will not reverse it decision to impose lockdown.
On Tuesday, the minister of health Jappie Mhango announced a 21 day lockdown o start on April 18 and end on May 9.
Addressing the media  this morning in Lilongwe, HRDC asked President Peter Mutharika to suspend the lockdown he ordered.
HRDC leaders said government has not made an analysis on how the lockdown is going to affect poor people in absence of cushioning measures.
HRDC Chairperson Gift Trapence has since warned that the rights body will join other entities to seek legal redress on the matter.
