DPP Veep for South Says Party Not Dead

Main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the south Kondwani Nankhumwa has said the party is not dead after losing in the recent fresh presidential elections to Tonse Alliance.

He said the party is still there and shall be there as this is not the first time for the party to come out of government.

“What has happened it is not new because the party has passed through hard times before and we will pass through and win again.,”

He added; “This is not the end of the party but rather a new beginning for the new chapter for the party to restructure and organize itself,”

Nankhumwa said in 2012 after the sudden death of late President Bingu wa Mutharika the party had 114 legislators most of them left the party and only 32 remained but in 2014 the party came back into government

Nankhumwa has also dismissed rumors that there are some factions in the party saying that the party is one and bigger than any individual.
