UTM MP Chrissy Kanyasho appointed Deputy Leader of the House

As parliament is set to reconvene for the 2020/2021 national budget, reports indicate that United Transformation Movement (UTM) Member of Parliament for Nkhata-Bay Chrissy Kalamula Kanyasho has been appointed Deputy Leader of the House.

Kanyasho, Deputy Minister of Health will be an assistant to Minister of Homeland Security Richard Chimwendo Banda who is currently Leader of the House.

UTM is currently in alliance with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) under the banner of Tonse Alliance headed by Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is also President of Malawi.

The appointment of Kanyasho is aimed at balance powers between UTM and MCP, according to one of the inside sources.

Currently Kanyasho is Deputy Publicity Secretary for UTM.
