Police Officer Moves to Help Vulnerable Family in Kasungu

A Police officer working at Kasungu Victim Support Unit has launched a social media campaign calling on well wishers to support a family of six orphans being looked after by their granny, Zodiak Online reports.
One of the children aged ten, sells water in plastic papers in Kasungu town for survival.
His elder brother does piece works selling bananas to support the family.
Sergeant Richard Maliwu says he met the 10 year- old-girl when he was out for lunch in the township.
“After interviewing her, she disclosed that their mother died a few years ago and her granny gives her K50 daily to order frozen water in town which she sells and she buys maize flour from the profit.”
The family lives at Gumbo Village in Traditional Authority Mwase’s area in the district.
Sergeant Maliwu has formed a Whatsapp group as a way of drumming support from wellwishers to support the family.
