Lilongwe City Councils Okays demonstrations against lack of women representation in govt

The Lilongwe City Council has granted permission to right activists to hold demonstration against lack of women representation in recent public appointments by President Lazarus Chakwera.

The right activists led by Maggie Kathewera Banda wants Chakwera to appoint more women in public positions.

The protesters also want Chakwera to reconstitutes Boards of Parastatals by including more women in various boards as compared to current scenario where only 20% of women have been incorporated.

According to the letter, the demonstrations will start from 9:30am across the country.
