Traditional Leaders From The South in Support of Abortion Bill

As different stakeholders are still sharing their opinion over the amendment of abortion bill act, some Traditional Leaders from the Southern region have said they are in support of the bill.

The traditional leaders including TA Chikumbu from Mulanie and TA Chimombo made the declaration in Blantyre this afternoon after a lengthy discussion on the merits and demerits of the current law.

They claim the current laws on termination of pregnancies are putting lives of women and girls at stake as they resort to unsafe abortion.

The Chiefs Regional engagement meeting was held with support from Coalition for the Prevention of Unsafe Abortion (COPUA).
