Nankhumwa invades Chikwawa, says DPP to bounce back

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also leader of opposition continues to interact with supporters of the party at grassroots level despite leadership squabbles rocking the party.

On Sunday, Nankhumwa invaded Chikwawa District where he held meetings with district and constituency committee members.

Nankhumwa encouraged the leaders to continue rallying behind the party and its leadership to ensure that the DPP returns to power at the next elections.

He also saluted the DPP supporters for voting for former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in the fresh Presidential polls.

DPP is currently in leadership squabbles with a certain faction proposing for an early convention to replace Mutharika who is too old to lead the party.

The proposal has face a strong resistance from Mutharika and other top officials who retaliated by firing Nankhumwa and others.

The development forced Nakhumwa’s camp to obtain an injunction on the matter.

Meanwhile Mutharika wants Francis Kasaila to replace Nankhumwa as leader of opposition in Parliament.
