Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Central Region Uladi Mussa has said he will appeal the 5 years jail sentence handed to him by the High Court in Lilongwe.

Mussa’s lawyer Paul Maulidi said this after High Court Judge Chifundo Kachale finished the reading the ruling.

According to Maulidi, his team will appeal from next week.

On Thursday afternoon Judge Chifundo Kachale imposed a 5 year custodial sentence on Mussa for the offence of abuse of office while for the offence of neglect of duty Mussa has been handed a 1 year custodial sentence.

The sentences are however to run concurrently which means Mussa will spend 5 years behind the bars.
