
Silt blocks Chipoka port

Operations at Chipoka port in Salima have ground to a halt for close to three weeks now as water level has gone too low as a result of siltation, forcing ship owners to divert their vessels elsewhere. The development has forced Malawi Shipping Company to redirect a vessel loaded with coal destined for Blantyre to Monkey Bay, a port meant for passenger traffic
