PP’s policy document a secret – Msonda

The governing People’s Party (PP) says it will keep its policy document a guarded secret as it is afraid that other parties will copy their plan.

PP’s Deputy Publicity Secretary Ken Msonda said on Saturday the party has a policy document in place guiding all the programmes and vision but has chosen to keep it under wraps for fear of copycats.

Msonda said some of the programmes and initiatives being carried out by the government at the moment including the economic recovery blue print announced in October last year are emanating from that policy document.

“We have a policy document in place. And I can assure you we have everything well articulated in the document. We have a vision for Malawi but at the moment this is not for public consumption. At the moment we are not giving it out because there are copycats. We know people will steal our ideas and portray them as their own.

“What I can tell you now is that we are implementing this document and everything this government is doing to correct the mess we inherited is from this document,” said Msonda.

He said the policy document was put together following the ‘Tiuzeni Campaign’ which the party carried out before assuming power in April after the death of President Bingu wa Mutharika.

During the campaign the party , then in opposition, reportedly collected people’s views on programmes, projects and policies they wanted the PP to pursue when it takes over government in 2014.
