Malawi Police Confirms Bushiris’ Arrest

The Malawi Police have confirmed the arrest of self acclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary Bushiri in Lilongwe.
Confirming the development, National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera says the police effected the arrest after Bushiri and his wife Mary handed themselves over to police at area 30 in Lilongwe.
Kadadzera says Bushiri is expected to be taken to court on charges of the warrant of arrest issued by the Interpol on Tuesday.
Bushiri, 37, and wife Mary, 39, breached their bail conditions in the republic of South Africa where he is answering fraud and money laundering charges.
Upon his arrival, Bushiri said, he wants the government of Malawi to intervene in his case as he argued that he does not see a chance of a fair trial in south Africa.
He also said, he wants the SA government to assure him of his security once he goes back.
Questions are still being asked to how Bushiri and her wife left SA and entered Malawi as their travelling documents were confiscated by SA government.
