Forestry Officials Ordered Not To Resell Confiscated Charcoal

The Government has ordered forestry officials to stop reselling charcoal that is confiscated from illegal sellers.

In a bid to end illegal charcoal production that lead to the depletion of forests, authorities confiscate charcoal from sellers.

But once confiscated, forestry officers resell the charcoal from their offices such as Limbe, in Blantyre.

This, according to the Director of Forestry Clement Chilima, contributes to the illegal sale of charcoal on the market.

This time, the government has engaged the Malawi Defense Force (MDF) soldiers who are confiscating charcoal in various illegal selling points.

Chilima said that it is time consumers adopt the use of clean energy;
