In a shocking incident, a 48-year-old restaurant owner thrashed his wife to death after an argument in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday night. Police have now arrested the accused identified as Villappan.
The accused, a resident of West Street at Thekkur, had been running at Kasavalanadu Puthur. The victim has been identified as 40-year-old V IIanjiyam.
According to a report in Times of India, the accused often indulged in a domestic fight with his wife. The couple’s two daughters are married and their son lives abroad.
The couple had an argument on Sunday night and in a fit of rage, Villappan hit his wife in the head with a log. She died on the spot. Police have filed a case of murder against Villappan and arrested him on Monday.
In a similar incident in June this year, an alcoholic man beat his wife to death in Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place in Korihar village of Gurubakhshganj area of the district. The accused killed his wife in front of his 6-year-old son. The woman identified as Sangeet was thrashed so brutally that she died of internal injuries.
The accused thrashing his wife brutally was caught on camera by neighbours. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media. In the video that went viral, the accused was seen thrashing the woman as she screamed in pain.
