Heavy Rains have damaged over 200 houses and an Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) deport at Lipiri in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kayembe in Dowa district.

Member of Parliament for Dowa West Constituency Dr. Abel Kayembe has since appealed to well wishers and Department of Disaster Management Affairs to quickly intervene with shelter and food.

In a related development, three people died in Ntcheu District following stormy rains that hit the district on Thursday last week.

This follows completion of an assessment on the impact of the disaster by Ntcheu District Council that has also revealed that 1,210 households have been displaced.

Confirming the development , Ntcheu District Council spokesperson, Maston Kaiya, said they have already submitted a report to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA) seeking relief assistance for the homeless families.
