Man handed 18 months jail sentence for possessing tippexed MSCE certificate

The First Grade Magistrate’s court in Phalombe has sentenced a 24-year-old man to one and half year’s imprisonment for impersonating a person named in a certificate.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Maureen Namainja, told the court that the convict, Alfred Twaya presented to the Malawi Police Service, an MSCE certificate of a deceased person, when applying for the recruit constable post, this month.

He was arrested at Phalombe police after some officers had noted that the name of the holder on the certificate was corrected using tippex.
