Polytechnic student shot 10 times by police in Blantyre

A student from Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi (UNIMA) is battling for his life at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after being shot several times by law enforcers on the night of December 31, 2020.

The student has been identified as Blessings Nyondo and is currently at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to information at hand, the student met his fate as he was on his way to a New Year Crossover Service for Apostle Joseph Ziba.

It is alleged that the student while going to the service bumped into a gang of thugs was mugging a woman around Kwacha Round-about in Njamba area.

This forced him to escape and in the process he bumped into a police vehicle and he shouted for help.

Instead of protecting the student, the law enforcers shot at him on suspicion that he was one of the thugs.

Meanwhile doctors have managed to remove four bullets that perforated his stomach.
