Minibus Owners Association of Malawi (MOAM) has ordered drivers to call off their strike and resume work.
The call has been made after a series of demonstrations which were conducted by the drivers and call boys demanding government to reduce fuel prices or they should be allowed to carry 3 passengers per seat.
The last two days, minibus operators took to the streets disturbing business operations in most districts of the country as people failed to report to their respective work places.
However, government maintained its position that they will not do any of the demands raised by the minibus drivers.
In the newly gazzeted guidelines of the Public Health Coronavirus and Covid-19 Prevention, Containment and Management Rules 2020, reduced the capacity of buses, minibuses and Taxis to 60 percent while observing social distance.
MOAM Secretary General Coxley Kamanga has said they asked the drivers to resume work and take the Coronavirus pandemic seriously and follow the Covid-19 guidelines that were put in place by government.
Kamanga has also urged the authorities to arrest any driver found breaking the law insisting that as minibus owners, they are taking the pandemic seriously.
