Mangochi Senior Resident Magistrate Joshua Nkhono has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 18 years in prison for defiling his 14-year-old step daughter.
The court, through prosecutor sub Inspector Maggie Chibulire, heard that the step father had been sleeping with his stepdaughter in exchange for money, since July 2020.
On August 4, 2020 the rumor of their friendship came to light and when the girl was quizzed by her relations, she narrated the whole story.
The matter was reported to Chilipa Police Unit and a medical report from Chilipa Health Centre confirmed that the girl was being sexually abused.
The step father, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him and the state paraded three witnesses in which the court found him guilty.
