Man Kills Four People, Including A Child, Before Kidnapping His Daughter For The $1,400 Stimulus Check

An Indiana man, 25, shot dead three adults and a child before abducting his daughter for the stimulus check.

Malik Halfacre, 25, has been accused of injuring his daughter’s mother and killing four of her family members before kidnapping his child. The incident happened on Saturday night, during a heated fight, in which he demanded half of a $1,400 stimulus check, Daily Mail reveals.

According to police reports, Halfacre opened fire inside Jeanettrius Moore’s home in Indianapolis. While Jeanettrius was only injured and managed to escape, her 7-year-old daughter Eve, her mother Tomeeka, her brother Dequan, and her cousin Anthony were all shot dead at the scene.

The mother of Malik’s six-month-old daughter alerted the neighbors of the brutal shooting. Meanwhile, Halfacre fled the house with his baby girl.

On Sunday, the shooter was arrested. He was found inside the attic of a different home about 4.5 miles from Moore’s home. Thankfully, the baby was found unharmed.

The shooting was triggered by a fight over Malik’s daughter’s $1,400 stimulus check, Moore’s family claims.

Jeanettrius’ cousin, Wendy Johnson, told WXIN:

“She said, ‘No, you don’t deserve any of this. I work. I take care of our child. You don’t do anything.”

Eventually, during the argument, Moore agreed to give Halfacre $450, but he was not pleased with the amount. Moments before leaving, he allegedly told her: “I’m gonna get that money.”

Not long after, the 25-year-old returned to the Indianapolis property and opened fire, killing four people.

The baby’s mother was found outside her home with a shotgun wound in the back. She directed the authorities to the house and told them about the other victims. The woman was then rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Halfacre received charges of preliminary murder and attempted murder.

On Monday, when Malik was being held, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Deputy Chief Craig McCartt said in a news conference:

“There was an argument there that escalated to the point where he pulled out his weapon and started shooting everyone there in the home.”

McCartt explained that the 25-year-old faces four preliminary counts of murder and one count each of attempted murder and robbery.
