Atupele hails Chakwera for taking tough stand against COVID-19 funds plunder

United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has hailed President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for taking tough stand against people involved in the plunder of Mk6.2 billion COVID-19 funds.

On Sunday, Chakwera announced the firing of Minister of Labour Ken Kandodo Banda for mismanaging K613,000 Covid19 funds.

Chakwera also confirmed the arrests of a number of government top officials including those from the Office of the President and Cabinet.

writing on his official facebook page after the reports, Muluzi hailed Chakwera for not tolarating Corruption in the country.

“Congratulations to H.E Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for your decisive action! Corruption is a cancer that must be rooted out. We have as a nation developed a culture that it is OK to abuse state resources at the expense of ordinary Malawians.

“I pray that this is the turning point and every patriotic Malawian will support you in fighting this vice,” wrote Atupele.

Meanwhile Chakwera has hinted that all top officials who plunder the COVID-19 funds will pay back the money.
