Police Net Thieves For Allegedly Stealing Items Worth K5 Million

Police in Limbe have arrested three people on suspicion that they stole various items worth over 5 Million Kwacha in Maone Industrial Area in the township in Blantyre.

Limbe Police spokesperson Patrick Mussa has identified the three as John Petro, 45, Richard Chingwalu, 46 and Bright Samuel, 22 years old.

Mussa said the three are connected to series of breaking offences in Limbe which occurred on 7 April, 2021.

Mussa said it alleged that Samuel who was working as a security guard at the warehouse belonging to a Malawian of Asian origin, connived with his two accomplices and broke into a warehouse.

They went away with 24 cartons of spaghetti, 35 cartons of bayonet coils, 117 boxes of rim rocks, 3 cisterns covers, 7 cartons of GRS kitchen drawers and 3 basins all valued at K5, 528, 000.

Police launched an investigation which led to their arrest and recovery of 2 cartons of GRS kitchen drawers and a carton of spaghetti.

He said the three have been charged with breaking into a building and committing a felony therein which contravenes Section 311 (a) of the Penal Code and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile Limbe Police wish to urge the citizenry to continue working hand in hand with them by among others continue providing with tips which leads to a apprehension of criminals.
