ACB calls for concerted efforts in fighting corruption

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Principal Public Education Officer for Blantyre, Patrick Thole, said on Wednesday that it would take everyone’s role if the fight against corruption in the country is to be won.

Thole made the remarks when ACB engaged religious leaders drawn from various denominations across Chikwawa district.

He said; for example, the National Anti-Corruption Strategy II (NACSII) of 2019-2024 takes a multi sectoral approach whereas within it are pillars/sectors to spearhead the fight against corruption.

“Different sections of the society and one of them are the faith based organizations and the religious leaders have a role in the fight against corruption.

“When we have high levels of corruption we know that there is a problem with morality.  It is the religious leaders who can assist in reversing the situation. They are custodians of morality and that is what they teach,” Thole said.

Chikwawa District Pastors Fraternal Chairperson, Wilson Kachenje, hailed ACB for organizing the meeting.
