Two men in Phalombe have been fined K50, 000 each by the First Magistrate Court for buying farm produce without licence.
Failure to pay the fine will lead the two to serve 15 months in prison.
The two were arrested on 13 May, 2021 at Phalombe Trading Center while transporting 45 bags of rice in a lorry from Migowi to Chitakale in Mulanje district.
Meanwhile, the bags of rice have been forfeited to Malawi Government and the court has further ordered the two to pay K160 000 to redeem the vehicle.
