Mpinganjira’s appeal case commences

The Supreme Court of Appeal is this morning hearing an application by Dr Thom Mpinganjira to stay or suspend his attempted judge bribery trial being heard by Judge Dorothy Degabrielle in the High Court.

Justice Rezine Nzimakanda has given 15 minutes to lawyers for Mpinganjira to address the court.

Patrice Nkhono, lawyer for Mpinganjira says the defense is applying for stay of proceedings in the high court pending an appeal in the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Nkhono says the defense would like to appeal against a decision by Degabrielle who refused to recuse herself.

He says the appeal will come in the Supreme Court anytime soon.
