Chakwera cheers injured MDF soldiers at QECH

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Monday evening visited soldiers who were injured in a road accident near Grace Bandawe along Magalasi Road in Blantyre.

The soldiers, 7 in total are admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

As earlier reported, the 11 soldiers were aboard a Military Police vehicle that formed part of the President’s convoy from Lilongwe but two of them have passed away following the impact of the crash.

Minister of Information Gospel Kazako confirmed of the death of two MDF soldiers in a statement posted on his official facebook page.

“I regret to communicate that two soldiers have been killed in a road accident involving the presidential convoy near Grace Bandawe along Magalasi road in Blantyre this afternoon.

“The soldiers were travelling in Military Police vehicle which is the last vehicle on the presidential convoy. His Excellency President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is deeply saddened with the deaths,” reads in part the statement.

He added:”We will keep you updated.”

Meanwhile funeral arrangement of the two deceased is yet to be communicated.
