A fourth year student at Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Rodney Matale has been killed in a road accident at Ekwendeni in Mzimba district.
Mzuni’s office of the registrar confirmed of the passing of Matale in a Memo.
Matale was a final year student and was studying Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Another report indicates that Matale was doing his internship at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in Mzuzu but was involved in the road accident at Ekwendeni Township and was rushed to Mzuzu Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In a related development, another student has also passed on in Karonga after suffering a long illness. He has been identified as Quitewel Chisale who, until his demise, was studying Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Management and was in his second year.
Chisale will be laid to rest at Chiwanja Village in Chitipa district while Matale’s burial will take place at Chiyendausiku Village in Balaka district.
