Pa Ground Sipali Bho: As Covid-19 Cases Surge

As government is still asking Malawians not to relax in the fight against the global pandemic, cases of the virus are currently on the pick as such raising the positivity rate.

The rise of the cases is coming at a time the Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda admitted that the country is currently passing through third wave which is already devastating other countries including neighboring Zambia and Tanzania.

According to new information at hand, in the last 24 hours, the country has registered at least 188 new cases out of the 1,175 new tests that were conducted.

The statement from the Ministry of Health also indicates that at least 7 people have succumbed to the virus while 57 have recovered from the deadly pandemic.

Meanwhile, government through the Presidential Taskforce is working jointly with the Malawi Police Service (MPS) to ensure that members of the general public are continuing following the measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus.

Cumulatively, Malawi has registered 35, 897 positive cases with 1,339 active cases. 33, 135 Malawians have since recovered from the virus. And 1, 194 people have died from the virus.
