21 Victims in the Ntcheu Tragedy Raid To Rest

21 people who died in a road accident in Ntcheu have been laid to rest, Chikwawa District Commissioner Ali Kasimu Phiri has confirmed.

According to Ali, the Government through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) provided coffins, transport, and financial support to the families.

He said some of the bodies were buried on Sunday but most of the remains were burried Monday evening.

Ali also revealed that those injured during the accident have been taken to Chikwawa District Hospital.

“The mood was very sombre as this is the first time for people to experience this type of tragedy. All the speeches were ending in tears,” Ali said.

The DC said after the arrival of the dead bodies in Chikwawa on Sunday evening they conducted a ceremony where chiefs, family relations, and the clergy said their eulogies in tears.

The 21 died after a minibus coaster they were traveling into was hit by a Freightliner truck at Mlanda in Ntcheu, the development that has left at least 60 children as orphans.
