20 people injured in road accident in Chitipa

At least twenty people have sustained various degrees of injuries after a motor vehicle registration number CP 9348 they were traveling in, on the M9 road from Chitipa to Nthalire in the district overturned at a place called Elephant tree.

Chitipa Police Spokesperson Hope Nyalinyali confirmed of the accident in a statement made available to faceofmalawi, saying that the accident happened on Wednesday afternoon.

However, Nyalinyali trashed social media reports claiming that 10 people have died in the accident.

Nyalinyali has said in a statement, of the injured, 20 were taken to the district’s hospital, while 5 to Wenya Health Center where two of them were treated as out-patients.

The vehicle a Mitsubishi canter carried 25 passengers.
