The Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has announced that it will hold a vigil at Parliament building on Wednesday to push the house leadership to address issues surrounding the loan authorization bill that was smuggled into the house during the last sitting.
According to it’s Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa the vigil is also aimed at forcing President Lazarus Chakwera to immediately set up a committee to independently investigate the matter.
The bill sought parliament’s approval to secure K93 billion, as a loan from the Bank of Baroda for the construction of houses for security agents.
Namiwa said the vigil follows the elapsing of a 48 hour deadline CDEDI gave the leadership of the house to respond to the issue.
Last week the law enforcers arrested Chakwera’s Advisor Pastor Martin Thom over the matter.
Thom is currently on court bail.
