Man handed 21 years jail sentence for defiling 4 girls

The Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Neno has sentenced 22 year old Witness Mpota to 21 years imprisonment with hard labour (IHL) for defiling 4 minors and transmitting them with Gonorrhea.

Police prosecutor Golden Kakoma had told the court that Mpota defiled the girls, aged 3 to 9 years on 10th, 12th and 16th June 2021 by the bush in Donda Village in the district.

Later, police arrested Mpota on 22nd June 2021 and charged him with defilement contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code.

Mpota was found guilty of all the four defilement charges levelled against him.

On Thursday, the court sentenced Mpota to 18 years IHL on the first count, 19 years IHL on second count, and 21 years IHL on third and fourth counts. The sentences will run concurrently.

Mpota comes from Donda Village Traditional Authority Chekucheku in Neno District.
