Man Barges into Estranged Wife’s Home, Sets Her Brother’s Kids & Relative Ablaze

A man in Gurugram allegedly entered his estranged wife’s house and set her family members ablaze on Tuesday. The accused allegedly set ablaze the woman’s grandparents, her brother’s kids and a relative in Pataudi.

The police said that the injured persons were taken to different private hospitals and one of them was referred to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The accused has been identified as Rinku.

Accused suffered burn injuries 

A resident of Bohar village, Rohtak, Rinku suffered burn injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital. The police said that Rinku and his wife got married eight years ago and got separated after a marital dispute.

The woman also lodged a case of dowry and domestic violence after they got separated. As per the police, the incident took place around 2 pm, when Rinku allegedly went to the house on Rampura crossing in Pataudi with a can of petrol. Allegedly, Rinku poured the petrol on his brother-in-law’s children who were asleep on a sofa and set them ablaze.

Accused under treatment 

A police official privy to the case told The Indian Express, “As the blaze spread, the accused’s shirt also caught fire and he suffered burn injuries. The mother of the children, who was washing utensils, rushed to rescue her children and suffered minor burns. An uncle of the children jumped in to rescue the children and suffered serious injuries. The accused fell unconscious and is undergoing treatment. ”

The police said that the two minor kids are in critical condition. It is suspected that the accused was holding a grudge against his brother-in-law for helping his wife in the court case. The statement of the family is yet to be recorded.
