Police Officer Andrew Chagaga’s Sentencing On November 24

The High Court in Blantyre will on November 24, 2021 sentence convicted police officer, Andrew Chagaga for raping a university student.

Chagaga raped twice a Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) student at Limbe Police Station in December 2020.

When the High Court convened on Monday, the State prayed that Chagaga be given a sentence of not less than 42 years.

Vikochi Chima is the Judge presiding over the case.

The Limbe Magistrate’s Court convicted Chagaga in July this year. Magistrate Soka Banda of the Court moved the case to the High Court after State Lawyers asked that Chagaga be sentenced by an upper Court.

Chagaga is currently on remand at Chichiri Prison in Blantyre.
