Six People Arrested For Killing 12 Year Old Canoe Operator In Chikwawa

Police in Chikwawa have arrested six people in connection with the brutal murder of 12-year old Isaac Matchiti, a canoe operator whose boat sunk in the Shire River last week.
The six allegedly murdered the boy and his body was set alight after angry villagers accused him of deliberately causing his boat to capsize through magic which claimed the lives of five people.
Chikwawa Police Public Relations Officer Dickson Matemba has identified the suspects as Alex Tchapu, 51, Happy Tchatoni, 27, Jeke Kennedy ,29, Love Fred, 35, from Tizola Village and Paul Mavundi, 36, of Ojesi Village and Yusufu Chabuka, 23, of Chatolazenga Village, all from Traditional Authority Lundu in Chikwawa District.
They are expected to appear before court to answer murder charges.
