UTM Councillor TonyMwenitete elected as Deputy Mayor for Mzuzu City

United Transformation Movement (UTM) Councilor for Mzilawaingwe Ward Tony Mwenitete has been elected as Deputy Mayor for Mzuzu City.

Mwenitete got seven votes outclassing three other contestants.

Mchengautuwa West Ward Councillor, Pyera Chiumia, has come second with six votes while Monica Simwaka got two and Chiyembekezo Mvula got one vote.

The development means Mwenitete will be the Deputy Mayor for a period of 2 and half years while Gift Desire Nyirenda is now new mayor for the city.
