Gift Trapence appointed as Board Director of USA-based global health organisation

Human rights activist Gift Trapence has been elected into the board of a USA-based global health organisation Health GAP (Global Access Project) as one of its board of directors.

The name of Trapence, who is chairperson of the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) and executive director of Centre for the Development of People (Cedep), was unanimously approved on August 27 2021 during the organisation’s Board of Directors meeting held in New York, USA.

Health GAP chairperson of Board of Directors Richard Corcoran in a letter of welcome to Trapence has since challenged the vocal Malawian activist to “bring your gifts, talents, connections, and experiences” to the organisation’s table.

“We are excited to have you join our team, and we look forward to getting to know you, your brain, and your heart,” ,” reads part of the letter signed by Corcoran.

In an interview, Trapence said he was honored to be elected as a director for a reputable global organisation amongst millions of global citizens.

Health GAP, founded in 1999, is an international advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring that all people living with HIV have access to life-saving medicines and operates in 13 countries globally including Brazil, Colombia, Switzerland, India, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
