Attorney General wants Pika Manondo money amounting to Mk147 million forfeited

The High Court in Lilongwe will tomorrow hear an application by Attorney General -Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda- who is seeking to forfeit 184 000 Dollars which is equivalent to 147 Million Kwacha belonging to attempted murder convict Pika Manondo.

Manondo, who is a convict in the attempted murder of Paul Mphwiyo- former budget director for Ministry of Finance -was found with the 147 Million Kwacha in a safe box which he was keeping at First Merchant Bank (FMB) which is now called First Capital Bank in Lilongwe Branch.

The money was found in 2013 by police when Manondo fled the country through Mchinji border three days after Mphwiyo was shot at the gate of his Area 43 residence.

Meanwhile, a notice of hearing from the Lilongwe High Court shows that the case will be heard at 2pm tomorrow.
