Irate Villagers Protest against the Burial of Five Corpses with Chief’s Consent in Balaka

Community members of Group Village Headman Mponda in Balaka District woke up to shocking news that unknown people have been buried in their graveyard without their knowledge.

Group Village Headman Allan Banda, has told the local press that the corpses were burried at night in half dug graves and now producing a bad stench.

Authorities from the District Council have confirmed burying five bodies two weeks ago in the two graves after requesting space from another, Chief who is not recognized by the community.

Meanwhile, a short while ago, communities stormed the council’s office to seek an explanation where upon leaving the DC’s office after being teargassed threatens to exhume the bodies if no clear answer is provided.
