MCP Asks Police To Investigate Recruitment Saga

The ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has asked Malawi Police Service (MPS) to investigate Chipiliro Kaliyopa, a man involved in the service’ recruitment saga.

Yesterday, over 70 youths were sent back to their homes from the country’s police training schools for allegedly failing to meet standards that qualify people to be recruited in the police service.

When asked one of the sent youths claimed that they were sent by an official from MCP Kaliyopa who promised them that he will facilitate their recruitment in police whilst getting K150, 000 from each one of them.

Reports also has it that Kaliyopa was using the name of the country’s Minister of Homeland Security Jean Sendeza.

MCP’s spokesperson Maurice Munthali could say if the man in question is an MCP member or not he simply said that his party is law abiding and has no hand in the saga.

On Monday, over 70 youths with MCP’s youth league IDs were stranded at the Lilongwe Police with their bags after they were rejected at Mtakataka and Kanjedza Police Training Schools in Dedza and Blantyre respectively for not having proper qualifications.
