Police recovers firearm, hunt for the owner in Chikwawa

Police in Chikwawa have recovered a firearm known as Muzzle loader and have launched manhunt for the owner who fled as the security officers were trying to round him up.

The alleged owner of the gun has been identified as Damiano Gome 36, of Suweni Village, in the area of Traditional Authority Ndakwera in the district.

The police say they came to know about the illegal possession of the firearm, following a tip from the man’s ex-wife whom he was allegedly intimidating to shoot to death due to jealousy.

The police further alleges that Gome was illegally cultivating and staying in Lengwe National Park.
