Vendors storm DAPP offices in Blantyre over high prices of bales

Second hand cloth vendors have stormed offices of the Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) in Maselema Blantyre, protesting the hiked prices of bales.

Lucy Sanudi, who is a regular vendor of DAPP second hand clothes, has told Rainbow TV that they are shocked with the percentages at which the bales have been hiked.

In random interviews, the vendors say a 15-kilogramme bale of jean trousers for men was selling at K32, 300, but now it has been hiked to K49,000.

“Winter clothes for those aged 0-14 years was selling at K32,000, but now it is at K40,000.

“Ladies T-shirt number 2 was selling at K46,000, but now it is at K66,000, 0-6 years baby clothes was selling at K173, 000 and is now pegged at at K216, 800, bags were at K31,500 and now at K38,000,” said some of the vendors interviewed at random.

Currently, DAPP officials are locked up in a meeting to resolve the complainants.
