Police in Chiradzulu have arrested seven suspects believed to be a mob that murdered a man , Madalitso Chipendo, who they suspected to have defiled and killed an 11-year-old-girl last month.
The incident happened at Yasini Trade Center in the district.
Chiradzulu Police Public Relations Officer , Sergeant Innocent Moses has confirmed of the arrests in an interview with the press.
He said the deceased had met the girl on her way to fetch water at a nearby well in the company of her younger sister when he picked her and vanished into the maize field where he allegedly stabbed her on the neck with her a sharp object.
The arrested suspects are Ephraim Rodrick, Estery Chimalizeni, Stephano Wilson, Ephraim Rodrick, Aubrey Mashonga, Juma Leta, Labson Kamowa and Chrispine Damson.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
