Chaos in Balaka as law enforcers fires teargas at angry villagers

Information reaching this publication indicates that there are running battles between police and angry villagers in Balaka who are demanding for the release of two hardcore criminals.

It is said that the angry villagers stormed Balaka police station, demanding the release of some two suspects which police have apprehended in connection to the recent spate of killings in the district.

But instead of releasing the two suspects, the law enforcers just fired teargas at the angry villagers resulting in running battles.

Earlier, the villagers demolished two houses belonging to the said culprits.

Balaka Police Officer In-Charge, Dan Sauten has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Meanwhile, tension is still high at Balaka Police Station premises.
