Mzuzu City Mayor to appear in court for defiling his niece

Mzuzu City Mayor Councillor Gift Desire Nyirenda is expected to appear in court today to answer charges related to defilement allegations over a minor.
The Mayor spent two nights in police cooler after he was arrested for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old niece.
The Mayor who is also councilor for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is said to have defiled the standard 7 leaner five times.
He later threatened to kill the victim if she reveals the ordeal.
