Usi mocks Ibrahim Matola for shedding tears over ESCOM sabotage

United Transformation Movement (UTM) Vice President, Michael Usi said there are evil people in government who are deliberately frustrating the systems.

Speaking at a UTM rally held at Nyambadwe Primary School Ground, Usi said for instance, on August 31, 2022, he was made aware that there are certain people at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services who are tampering with the network system which is leading people seeking services to get frustrated.

He said the same is happening at the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM).

He said: “I heard the Minister of Energy [Ibrahim Matola] wept because of such. So, I called him to say he should never cry again. Instead, the one switching off electricity should be the one crying.”

Usi said he believes that it was important to remove such people sabotaging the government soon after the Tonse Alliance assumed power.

He added that government will find it hard to fulfil its development agenda if those sabotaging the government are maintained.
