Police in Mchinji have arrested 19-year-old Alinafe Chisoni for allegedly killing her three-year-old child.
Public Relations Officer for Mchinji Police Station Maxwell Jailos has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Jailos, the suspect had misunderstandings with her father after she was advised to take care of the child and her young sisters following the death of their mother, a suggestion which did not please her.
Jailos said the child was found lifeless along the road to Robert 1 village in the district where she had fled to.
Postmortem results showed the death was due to spinal cord, injury secondary to beating.
