Man arrested for administered wrong medication to a child at Nkhoma Mission Hospital

A man aged 26 identified as Laston Kachumba has been arrested for allegedly entering the Children’s Ward at Nkhoma Mission Hospital and administered wrong medication to a child.

The child has since died.

Central Region Spokesperson Alfred Chinthere and Administrator for Nkhoma Mission Hospital Agness Nyanda have confirmed the incident in an interview with the press.

Nyanda said the suspect who is one of their health workers was off-duty but he went to children’s ward around one am to administer the medication to the child.

She said health authorities found lignocaine in the treatment room.
