Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has accused President Lazarus Chakwera of sleeping on the job.
Mutharika said this during his address currently underway at PAGE house in the eastern district of Mangochi.
According to Mutharika, the country is is in a leadership crisis as “there is no functioning president” as “the president is no longer interested in the welfare” of the citizens. He says the president is globetrotting “for photo shots” and playing golf with his “new found friends” when he should be saving to care for Malawi.
Mutharika has also attacked President over failure to procure fertilizer under the AIP program.
According to Mutharika, the AIP has been looted such that the government “has not move a bag” into Malawi when the rains are here.
